My background

I've been specialising in recruiting marketers since 1997 and my prior background in marketing covered major household brands in FMCG, tourism, QSR and advertising. 


Feedback from clients reflects that my dual experience of many years in recruitment building strong networks with a wide range of marketers and my prior life in marketing combine to give them much better results. 


Why?  This dual experience as a recruiter and a marketer enables me to extract a deeper understanding of clients’ briefs as well as make more accurate assessments of candidates’ skills and competencies.  I therefore deliver more relevant shortlists closer to clients' needs...and they hire better marketers for their business.

The process;

Consult closely with clients to really understand their business and marketing objectives for the role as well as attention to specialist or general requirements as to skills, personality, experience, competencies and qualifications.


Importantly, the brief should include a summary from the hiring manager of the key challenges or projects the role will need to meet or address within the next year or two. 

  • Develop target lists from networks to identify candidates in the passive and active markets and, where appropriate, general discussions as to relevance
  • Online advertising to complement search.
  • Detailed discussions and interviews with selected candidates about the opportunity as well as assessment of their career objectives, motivations and competencies.
  • Development of the shortlist and presentation to the client.
  • Arrangement of client/candidate interviews and follow-up assessments.
  • Conducting detailed reference checking of candidates and arranging psychometric testing if required.
  • Negotiating an offer and managing the candidate's expectations and acceptance.
  • Regular periodic follow-up with clients and candidates after employment has commenced.
